Co-organized by WHO Collaborating Centre for Tropical Diseases, WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention and Case Management of Echinococcosis, National Institute of Parasitic Diseases China CDC, and Sichuan CDC, the International Symposium on Cestode Zoonoses Control is held in Chengdu, China on November 15, 2017.

The symposium aims to share the current epidemiology and burden of echinococcosis and taeniasis/cysticercosis, as well as strategies and tools to control and eliminate, and discuss the challenge and opportunities in control and elimination of these two diseases. During the symposium, the B&R Network for the Elimination and Control of Echinococcosis and Cysticercosis (BR-NEC) is established, to promote the global efforts on control of echinococcosis and cysticercosis.
